Each time, four products form the families of the server N-TEC NAS, RapidNAS SR and RapidNAS MS. This way N-TEC covers, going from the newcomer’s system with up to 2 TB of memory capacity, through the variations of middle class, up to the high performance model of 12 TB, a large spectrum of demand.
Through the architecture of network attached storage, the devices can be integrated anywhere on the LAN. The network connection results via interfaces of 2 Gigabit Ethernet (Copper). The NAS servers are, as you wish, also on sale with GBit-Fibre- and Multiports-Gbit interfaces.
In the four servers RapidNAS, the ARECA controllers come in use and support, next to the current RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, JBOD, also the RAID level 6, where a multiple breakdown of hard discs (up to two) is possible, and this, without data lost. Furthermore, the possibility exists of installing a hot spare disk drive. The RAID controllers are optional and on sale with a battery-backup-unit. If a RAID assembly disc breaks down, the hot spare disc drive will be automatically integrated.
The RapidNAS SR systems are based on an LINUX exploitation system and RapidNAS MS systems on the storage server 2003 of Windows. To the function extend belongs, among other, an administration of intelligent file with journaling, multi-snapshots respectively shadow copy of the volume, as well as a USV support. RapidNAS MS supports, next to the NAS services, also iSCSI, and can this way be installed as universal memory place.
The volume replication enables, furthermore, for the administrators, the construction of a mirror image of data of a complete RapidNAS SR and so, the simultaneous use of two identical copies op the network. This also includes the synchronisation between two files of data separated one from another. When a file already exists on the other RapidNAS server, the differences are communicated and equalized consequently.
Also by the RapidNAS MS NAS systems, a production of data is possible.
The functionality is not, admittedly, contained in the storage server 2003, but can be realized optionally with the « EMC RepliStor ». Furthermore, the SW permits an automatic failover with failback, by a break down of the Quell NAS system.
The simple sharing function makes the subdivision of the memory place possible, as well as the granting of the rights of access for the reading/writing respectively of separated users on the network. The system includes here the LDAP, as well as the ACL control mechanisms for the accesses. This includes as well the access privileges of local users as also the domain users. With the adaptive-load-balancing, the network data output can be divided on several adapters and this way increase in its entirety. The AFT function (adapter fault tolerance) improves considerably the error tolerance. A second adapter in an assemblage takes automatically in charge the primary connection, if this ones breaks down.
With RapidNAS, the enterprises obtain automatically a licence for an unlimited number of users. The system is delivered, preconfigured and can also be installed and set in service without detailed technical knowledge. A graphical user surface based on Web provides, furthermore, an intuitive use. The RapidNAS systems support the Windows-, Apple- and Unix/Linux-clients.
